Dapoli - "Mahabaleshwar" of Konkan & Weekend Destination


Dapoli is a pleasant town situated at a height of about 800 feet above sea level in Ratnagiri district, Konkan on the west coast of Maharashtra, India. It is blessed with abundant natural beauty and enjoys a cool climate throughout the year. Surrounded by hills and forests and having a long coastline, this is a home for a variety of migratory birds and animals. There are plenty of cashew nut, jackfruit, coconut and betel nut plantations. Known as Mahabaleshwar of Konkan, this is a great place to spend holidays. Despite the increase in tourism, Konkan beaches have managed to remain untouched and unspoiled and are amongst the cleanest ones on the entire west cost of India. The beaches near Dapoli wont disappoint you either. Nature Lovers can indulge themselves in exploring the hiking trails in the nearby jungles. You can also visit the ancient temples, forts, caves and hot springs nearby. If you plan to make a trip during summer vacations, be sure to feast on Dapolis famous Ratnagiri Hapus mangoes.

Karde Beach

Karde beach is a very long and broad beach which extends far upto Burundi via ladghar across a few rocky patches to its south and Murud Harnai to its north so long walks can be really long if you are staying at Karde. You could also try riding your two wheeler along the beach to the adjoining beaches from Karde during low tides. Ladghar is seperated from Karde by couple of rocky stretches to its south.

Fish Market - Harnai

Harnai Fish Market is located on a beach next to Harnai Port, about 6 km from Sun Bliss Resort. There are fish auctions carry on at the beach everyday, morning at 8.30 am and in the evening around 5 pm. In this black sand beach, there are fishermen’ boats rested on the shore. You can see them work on their boats while making your way down to the beach. Every boat is handmade and seems to have it’s own character.

Suvarnadurg Fort-Harnai

Suvarnadurg Fort that is located on a small island in the Arabian Sea, near Harnai in Konkan, along the West Coast of India, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The fort also includes another land fort (small) called the Kanakadurga at the base of headland of Harnai port on the coast. Building of the fort is credited to Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire, in 1660.

Purushottam Statue - Burondi

Just 8 kilometers from Sun Bliss Resort, you can visit the beautiful place Bhagwan Parshuram Bhumi, Huge Parshurama Statue is placed at scenic hill top from where u can get panoramic views of Tamstirtha red sea beach. Statue of 21 feet standing Lord Parshurama over earth sphere of diameter 40 feet !

Panhalekaji Caves

Panhalekaji, the famous rock-cut caves are situated on the bank of the river Kotjai which further meets the Dabhol creek. These historical manmade caves are believed to be more than 1000 years old and are the great examples of ancient cultural and architecture. There are a total 29 rock cut-caves, both big and small spread along the river bank.

Chandika Mata Mandir - Dabhol

Dabhol town is located on the south-west border of Dapoli tahashil. Vashishthi River flowing from Chiplun merges into the sea at Dabhol and is called as Dabhol creek. Chandikadevi Mandir (temple of Goddess Chandika) and a fishing jetty are the major attractions here and have made it increasingly popular as a tourist destination in Konkan.
